Welcome to Hawk Class

Mr CollettHawk class are a mixed Year 4 / Year 5 class, located in the Terrapins. We love it in the Terrapins because our displays can be bigger than anywhere else in the school! Hawk class always have lots of fun when working on their topics, which are chosen by Mr Collett: Scotland, Space, Film Studies, the Aztecs, Antarctica and Birds of Prey. Scotland

o Literacy - traditional tales and myths

o D&T - making traditional Scottish recipes, linking to writing instructions in Literacy.

o Music - learning and performing Scottish songs

o P.E. - learning Highland dances

o ICT - Word processing and presentations about Scotland; Video Conferencing with Scottish schools

o In the final week of term there will be a Parent's event, where you will be invited to see our dancing, hear our traditional tales and singing, and taste our cakes. Formal invites will be sent home in a couple of weeks.

Local History Exhibition

Science at St Birinus

On July 10th 2009, Grey Class were given the opportunity to visit St Birinus Boy's school to take part in some science lessons.


Birds of Prey

On July 8th 2009, Grey Class finished off their Red Kites & Birds of Prey with an exciting trip to the Hawk Conservancy in Andover.

Terrapin Transformation!

As part of the "Change Schools" project, the terrapins have now been fully re-painted!

DSC00071.JPGJessica, the lead artist, worked with Grey Class to produce this amazing display. It started with templates being drawn of everyday classroom objects, outlines of children (and adults!) and then transferred onto the outside of the building.

Amazing Antarctica

Grey Class' most recent topic, "Amazing Antarctica", has just come to a close.
The children (and teacher!) have enjoyed it very much, and have learned lots about the climate, wildlife and exploration of the coldest continent on Earth.

The Aztecs in Grey Class!

This term our topic is The Amazing Aztecs.

We have learned about the great city of Tenochtitlan and Aztec clothing, where and when they existed, and will be looking at their clothing, food, religion, family life, art and how they came to an end.

For our Home Learning project this term we will be making our own Aztec items - clothing, jewellery, weapons, or models of their Temples. This work is all going to be displayed in class on the last Thursday of term.
