BONKERS FOR BOOKS – BOOK WEEK 8TH – 12TH MARCH

Book week is here once again, we are sure the children will enjoy another fun filled week!

On Tuesday 9th March, the author and illustrator Mini Grey will be spending the day with us to talk about her work. Mini has written a range of beautifully-illustrated books, including Biscuit Bear, the Traction Man series and The Pea and the Princess. As well as meeting with each class, there will be 2 signing sessions with Mini.

Children can bring their own copies of Mini’s books to the library for a book signing between 11.50-12.10, please make sure these are labelled with your child’s name. We will be holding another book signing in the library between 2.40 -3.30 where you will be able to buy copies of her books and have them signed.

To celebrate Mini’s visit, we would like to repeat last year’s successful book character day and encourage everyone to come to school dressed as favourite book characters. Costumes can be as simple or complicated as you like, and winners from each class will receive a special prize. We look forward to seeing what pupils (and staff!) come up with this year...

BOOK SWAPS!

Our team of ‘Mission Read’ pupils have selected a special ‘Supplies Mission’ to encourage children to read more. They have created class swap boxes for pupils in KS1 and KS2. They would be extremely grateful if you were able to donate any unwanted children’s books for children to swap with one another. The idea is that children donate to the box, choose a different book from the swap box and return books when they have finished reading them. This way the box should always have something exciting available for children to read! If you have any suitable children’s books, magazines or annuals that you are able to donate your child’s class swap box please label them with ‘swap box’ on the inside cover and ask your child to give them to their class teacher. Thank you!
