What a wonderful world

This term, in Pink Class, our topic has been: ‘What a Wonderful World’, where we have been finding out about different habitats- a home for animals and plants.

We visited the Northmoor Trust and identified the plants and mini- beasts that lived in the grasslands and woodland. We also looked for evidence of animal homes by looking for tracks and droppings. We found evidence of badger tracks.

In class we have used keys to identify the plants and animals that live in our school grounds. We researched food chains on the Internet and created some of our own.

In art we have been making clay sculptures of mini-beasts which we will glaze and fire in our kiln. In DT we are making a woodland animal with a moving part, using a hydraulic system.

Finally for our Home Learning Project this term we designed and created a new species of animal and set it in its own habitat with a fact file outlining its diet, where it lives and any special features. We exhibited our projects in the classroom and invited our parents to come and look at what we had made. It was a great project!
