Materials

Robin class have been learning about different materials. They have used ICT to explore the variety of different materials that things are made from. They have been using clip art to find pictures of materials and used these to practise using a variey of tools. Here the children are working hard to extend their scientific vobabulary by sorting different materials.

The Great Fire of London

The children will be learning about life in England during the time of the Great Fire of London. The children will be using books, drama and ICT to investigate how the Great Fire of London started and how it spread so quickly and how eventually it stopped.

Maths

Homework will go home on Tuesdays and be returned on Thursday. Homework will begin on 22nd September. Homework for Term One will be a maths activity. Homework for Term Two will be a Home Learning Project. Your child will also receive every Tuesday a slip of paper explaining what your they have been doing in their maths groups this week and ideas for you to support your child at home.
All children need to practice at home counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and then move onto learning their x2, x5, x10 multiplication tables.

Red class 08

What have Red class been doing this term? Besides practising for the nativity, here are a few of the many things we have been doing:

The children have been very excited about a new initiative between Red and Mauve class where the children enjoy sharing books every Friday afternoon.

Subtraction using dinosaurs really captured the children's imagination.

The children are practising their maths skills using the outside area for inspiration and equipment.

Class visitor

The father of one of the children recently arrived back from Afghanistan. His regiment had recently been decorated by Princess Anne.

He kindly gave up his time to make and present a PowerPoint presentation about his life there. The children were mesmerised and asked lots of thoughtful questions about his experiences.
